19th Annual General Meeting: Summary

The Association of Muslim Schools concluded its 19th Annual General Meeting at Madani High School in Leicester on Saturday 17th July 2010 with the election of a new Chairman, Amjad Ahmed principal of Al-Furqan Community College (Birmingham).

The opening session of the AGM, at which former Chair Dr Mohamed Mukadam presented his annual report concluded with him thanking the previous AMS Shura Committee and announcing his decision to stand down as Chairman.  Over the past few years under Dr Mukadam’s chairmanship AMS UK has seen a period of unparalleled expansion and growth in terms of service provision for Muslim schools in the UK, a fact acknowledged by all in attendance.  The AGM majlis and the new incoming chairman paid tribute to Dr Mukadam’s extraordinary dedication, commitment and sacrifice in furthering the cause of Muslim schooling  in the UK.  In keeping with his track record of service to Muslim schools Dr Mukadam accepted the shura committee’s request to stay on the newly elected shura committee as a co-opted member in order to continue to lend his expertise to the Association.
